GPS In Every Phone By 2018? Looks Suspicious

gps-tracking

After many years of having a mobile phone with GPS system, the concept of not having it seems unnatural. Even with smartphone usage rates increasing very fast, there are still a lot of people out there with paper maps and awesome visual memory. But all those directionally gifted persons will have GPS embedded into their mobile phones no matter if they like it or not until the 2018.

Comprising VOiP services

The Federal Communications Commission has governed that all phone service providers — comprising VOiP services — must come forward with only GPS-equipped devices by 2018 to better help in locating the places 911 calls were made from.

In accordance with Courthouse News Service, it is still unclear where the deadline for application of mobile phones not fitted with GPS. The 911 calls made from cell phones without GPS demand the carrier to implement triangulation of the location of the caller using cell towers, which is not as effective as the telephone’s GPS which is just relaying location information to emergency services directly.

Federal regulations

Anyway, the Federal Communications Commission evaluates that with or without the recent regulations, 85% of mobile phone users will have GPS-tracked devices by 2018. Let’s hope the leftover 15% joins the rest before anything that demands a 911 call descends.

GPS jammers

What is the suspicious thing? All of us will be available for easiest tracking 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Is this a violation of our privacy rights? I guess it is. So it may be worth to think about the protection of those rights. To keep your mobile phone out of tracking systems you can use GPS jammers and even in the future, when everyone’s smartphones will be viewable from any part of the world, you could be invisible to tracking system. And don’t forget about paper maps and memory training!

So, what do you think about this new government feature? Do you like it? Do you angry with it? Express your thoughts in the comments.
